I didn’t know they were called brogues, but now you informed me! :) I am not opposed to them, however they’re kind of interesting on girls (not that I’ve seen it too much). Anytime I see girls in oxford shoes, I think the best situation are some sort of specialty pants. Not jeans, leggings, or skirts; but something unique. I picture puffy/parachute shorts, olive green or taupe brown. Also could work with any dress that has a gorgeous, unique print. However, it can’t go past the knees because it ruins the concept and it looks clunky with a long dress. Also, wear them with shin-length, dainty socks with like lace on the top. Also, you can wear them with stockings that clip to your underwear and wear short-shorts. This was a challenging one, but you have options. Look up “ofxords for girls” and you’ll get a ton of ideas.
3 best options: Louis Vuitton, Tumi, Coach for a modern/understated school or everyday errand backpack. But those are suggestions for guys. I’d rather see girls carrying totes or oversized bags. If you were to take this route I’d suggest an LV keepall MM in a damier canvas ($870), or maybe a canvas Longchamp tote or one of their backpacks for a cheaper route. If you really want to go all out, a Celine cabas tote is really popular for girls AND guys on college campuses I think; or you have the LATEST season Celine SEAU bag if you’re serious about the word “designer.” The astoundingly flawless Italian powerhouse that is Bottega Veneta has great messenger bags, but they also have the surprisingly cheap (for BV) Scolpito tote ($920) for women that is price. If you want to rephrase the question with a price range, please ask again.
Yeah but even I never understand the Speedy for a guy… but then again, I don’t really like the Speedy at all. Well, the monogram speedy. I don’t think he was being nasty, he might have been asking for himself even; not really sure!
Guys can carry whatever they do or don’t want to. I would have never considered it until I saw a picture (of course it was on tumblr) of a model wielding one of the exclusive bags and I had an open mind. I mean, I’d never spend the money personally but I’d gladly accept one. :) P.S. It could be worn masculinely, like the model wore it. Like a crossbody, or across the chest. The chain is the only feminine feature really, but it works if you’re always blinged out.
I didn’t buy a Celine bag. I might get a Cabas one day, but only when I’m much older to maybe use as a beach bag or something like that. But good for you, which did you get?
Not really sneaker informed, sorry.
Maybe its true, and I definitely agree on the LV thing. Its hard to get a good bag while you’re young because its comes across as pretentious or fake because its not as typical in the states for young people to actually value an LV. The monogram is so popular, and comes across as just so fake it is so upsetting. I can barely enjoy my macassar kitan because it has the classic LV monogram. But I can definitely do a cabas tote, I was talking about the classic Celine bag.
They are sold out everywhere… But if you lived in NYC, you might be able to find them at the ridiculously overpriced boutiques downtown in the meatpacking or SoHo. Also, if you find it at a store online you might be able to order it. Ebay is an option, but then you deal with authenticity concerns. xx
